Action Employment Service is an evidence based supported employment program that helps individuals who have disabilities find competitive employment. Working offers an opportunity to build confidence, aid recovery, provide social interaction, and is a way to increase income. Plus, Action Employment Service can help people keep their jobs without losing their benefits.

Choose a Job

Action Employment Service can help you choose the job that is best for you by:

• Assessing job readiness skills, strengths and interests
• Offering career planning to help identify the type of work that meets your needs
• Providing vocational education planning and assistance with obtaining financial aid for training
• Using volunteer placements to establish work interests and history.
  

Get a Job

Action Employment Service works with a wide variety of employers in Kalamazoo county who offer part-time and full-time options such as: janitorial and maintenance, food service, retail, assembly and office positions. We can help prepare you with the skills you need to get the job you want by:

• Aiding in resume development
• Training in filling out applications and interviewing
• Assisting with transportation issues.

Keep a Job

Once working, Action Employment Service can help you keep your job by:

• Offering on-site job coaching to train and maintain employment
• Visiting the job site to provide on-going support
• Maintaining employee/employer communication through consultation and negotiation
• Teaching you how your earned income affects SSI and SSDI
