Overall objective is to work with individuals with mental illness in securing and maintaining employment in the community.

  • Provide effective, recovery-based supported employment services

  • Provide direct services to assist individuals to meet their competitive employment goals

  • Assess individual strengths, skills/ interests and assist with identifying suitable competitive employment options.

  • Teach and coach necessary job-related skills

  • Assist with personalized benefits planning to help individuals calculate the amount of money they can earn in relation to their benefits (i.e. Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, and SSDI).

  • Contact potential employers and develop jobs that meet client needs in work settings

  • Maintain regular contact with assigned clinical team(s) to ensure integration of employment and mental health services for mutually served individuals

  • Minimum one-year experience in mental health, vocational or related human service field required and Associate’s degree or higher preferred or combination of 3 years’ related experience and/or education required.

  • Supported employment experience desired

  • Employment Training Specialist certification helpful

  • Effective communication and negotiation, organizational ability, and problem-solving skills required

  • Ability to complete required paperwork timely and properly required

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and a vehicle to transport clients required

  • Ability to perform work in community settings which may not be barrier-free required
