Health Information Management Specialist (HIMS) - Kalamazoo

Direct implementation of Streamline Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the agency.  



Assure InterAct meets individual service documentation and systems requirements including demographics, authorizations, service activity data, admissions/discharges and assure records meet quality and contractual standards.   

Monitor accuracy of service note entries according to contract requiremen

Develop and run Streamline reports that meet the needs of the agency and assure the integrity of the data.

Oversee management of all new referrals assuring authorizations are in place, and required data is up to date for InterAct as well as the funding agency’s EHR.

Ensure personnel have the appropriate permissions for their work assignments.

Serve as lead contact between funders and InterAct on EHR issues.  Ensure data is accurate and meets contract requirements.

Function as lead contact for EHR provider; coordinate new projects and budgets, manage systems changes and day-to-day troubleshooting. Assure staff training.

Collaborate around data tracking, compilation and reporting assuring reports are accurate easily accessible.

Work with executive leadership team to utilize Streamline data warehouse effectively and efficiently.            




  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and health information system management or equivalent degree preferred or Six years related education and experience required.
  • Ability to write Sequel code and experience with Microsoft Power BI required
  • Experience with Streamline Electronic Health Record highly preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational ability including attention to details and problem-solving skills. 
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.  Proficient in analysis using data base programs to provide program data.
  • Proven administrative skills and excellent follow through on multi-stage projects.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and exchange information with members of administration, entire staff and outside organizations.
  • Knowledgeable about and supportive of culturally competent, recovery and trauma informed practices.
  • Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are welcomed.
