InterAct of Michigan - Kalamazoo location is seeking a dynamic, full-time Outpatient Therapist to primarily provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and some Substance Use Disorders (SUD) counseling (with appropriate credential) may be used on occasion in this position.

The successful candidate will work in one of only a few DBT-certified programs by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification with a team of therapists providing DBT, DBT Change to CBT and some SUD counseling (with appropriate credential). Counseling is provided in both individual and group formats. The successful candidate will also receive onsite training from a national trainer who is a certified DBT clinician by the DBT-Linehan Board.

Provide direct services to participants.

o Weekly individual & group skills DBT/CBT/IDDT therapy sessions to assigned caseload

o Individual coaching by phone with identified individuals

Develop, follow, and respect individuals' person-centered treatment plans.

o Complete assessments, PCPs, progress notes

o Complete required assessments, etc. on electronic medical health record.

Resolve crisis situations.

o Make time for direct calls from participants during weekday hours

o Be available for consultation after work hours and on-call

o Provide back-up assistance to other therapists, KCMHSAS crisis team and other emergency personnel in times of crisis or as needed.

Coordinate with community and other systems that impact individuals served.

o Coordinate with funders and community providers to address detox or other residential substance abuse service treatment services needed.

o Coordinate medication services with assigned Psychiatrist or NP.

o Maintain regular contacts with support systems to provide knowledge of program and services.

Comply with procedures, standards and policies for agency operations, including Code of Ethical Conduct. Demonstrate flexibility to adjust with the agency as it adapts to current and future needs.



Current, fully-credentialed Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required.

- For out-of-state applicants: Ability to obtain LMSW in through the State of Michigan's Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Department (LARA) upon hire. Please visit to see if your current credential / licensure meets LARA's requirements to obtain an LMSW in Michigan.

- Desire to work with persons with Borderline Personality Disorders, persons who may be have self-harming behaviors and/or have suicidal behaviors or tendencies required.

- DBT, CBT and/or IDDT training strongly preferred.

- SUD credential (CAADC) preferred.

- Minimum of one-year previous experience providing individual and group therapy, previous experience providing DBT, CBT, and/or IDDT is preferred.

- Ability to serve on-call shifts

- Experience using EMHR (electronic medical health record) helpful.

- Knowledgeable about and supportive of culturally-competent, evidenced based recovery and trauma informed practices required.

- Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are welcomed.
