Representative Payee - Kalamazoo

Assist with operation of Community Payee Services program.


Accurately enter bills and requests for funds based on the individual budgets to ensure timely bill payments and client quality of life while meeting SSA guidelines.     

Monitor client accounts utilizing electronic health record and accounting software to ensure demographic information is accurate.

Monitor client accounts to ensure accuracy of budgets.

Follow SSA guidelines in the reporting of client events, information requests, and annual reports.

Provide advocacy with service vendors to meet the financial needs of the individuals served.           

Maintain communication with persons served, guardians, and case manager/supports coordinators to ensure that all basic needs are being met.

Meet with clients to provide orientation to services and create budgets that meet SSA standards.

Communicate in a manner that demonstrates respect for individuals served and assures the individual’s right to privacy and confidentiality.


One year Customer Service Required.  Associates degree in business/finance/accounting with minimum one-year professional experience that includes computerized financial record-keeping; or, a combination of at least 3-years related education and/or relevant experience preferred.  Experience with non-profits business operations desired. Good communication and negotiation skills, excellent organizational ability, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to work independently required.  Knowledgeable about and supportive of culturally-competent, recovery and trauma informed practices.  Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are welcomed.
